  Anyone struggle to find meaning in life?

  just wondering if this is a common thing for you guys and girls?

  when i left the jws it was hard to make a connection with people, much of the time i felt that whatever they wanted to talk about just didn't seem relevant/deep/meaningful.

  i find myself filtering my mind to get to a level with others (small talk mostly).

  Like punkofnice I feel in many ways that people are a virus on this Earth. Then I read something very beautiful by someone or hear a piece of music another composed or played. People who work hard to make life better for all of life on Earth. Making connection with people of different backgrounds and helping others in any way I can gives me comfort.

  Living in the dream world of the Borg for most of my life and then leaving it has taken it's toll in finding meaning in life. But I am in many ways a eternal optimist With the freedom to use my mind now I enjoy life more now than ever. This is what keeps me going.

  My heart goes out to all of you who struggle with the meaning of life. My Hope is you find a place in your life that gives you meaning. Remember the Borg took our authentic personality from us and it is up to each of us to find who we really are. Good luck to all of us in our struggles. Still Totally ADD

  Manmade rules

  i was talking to someone a few years ago and he said in his congregation they have a rail of white shirts prepared in the cloakroom for if a speaker doesn't have a white shirt on.

  it was a rule in their hall that all brothers in the platform must wear white shirts when going talks and if the speaker won't comply when asked to change into the shirt they provide an elder in the congregation will do the talk instead.

  i have never known any other halls do it so it must be a rule the elders have made up without gb input.

  On a hot summer day back in the early 1970's a CO insisted the men in our car group wear jackets. It was only 90 degrees with humidity to match. He lasted about one house and the jacket came off. We was all laughing to ourselves. Once a sister brought a vase of flowers from her garden and placed on the piano. She was so happy and proud about how beautiful they were. Within minutes a elder grab the base of flowers and took them outside with her crying behind him while he was telling her flowers distract from the meeting and flowers are not appropriate for kingdom halls. The poor sister was humiliated and emotionally upset. Nothing like a cult to bring you down. Still Totally ADD

  How the Governing Body breaks people

  we all have likely heard the expression "to break a person" and usually it's in relation to kidnappers, bullies, pimps, human traffickers and cult leaders.. when a person is broken, their spirit, goals, aspirations, pursuits, self esteem, critical thinking and dreams are taken away.

  what fills that vacuum is despair, depression, low self esteem, lack of self confidence and individuality.

  the victim now believes that they are not worthy of enjoying life and following their dreams and personal satisfaction through personal achievements.

  My experience as a born-in was being broken down during the years in the Borg. Can't do this or you can't do that. When coming of age and becoming adult all my decision revolved around their teachings. Interesting thoughts. Thank you. Still Totally ADD

  glenster thank you for bringing this out. I use to love watching the Dick Van Dyke show when I was a kid. Sally was always the funny sarcastic person on the show. Dick's brother Jerry was also a very funny guy. I can't remember but I think he was on 2 episodes of the Dick Van Dyke show. He played a person with a sleeping problem. Sorry to see them both go. RIP. Still Totally ADD

  alamb I have no information to help you I just wanted to say how sorry I feel for your plight you are going through. Being a victim myself I just can't imagine the anger you having about what happen to your daughter. I hope you will be able to legally take your father to task on this problem.   it`s always a buzz to see this with the naked eye and know that their are human beings orbiting the earth a couple of hundred miles up every 90 minutes or so .. the wife and i were just sitting out on our porch/patio waiting for the cool change to arrive when i noticed this "star" moving across the sky in a se/nw (?

  ) direction { i hope that`s right }.

  anyhow i thought some others on here may be interested in tracking the iss from time to time.. by the way the cool change hasn`t arrived here yet it`s still quite warm though not as hot as it was today at 41 deg c.

  smiddy3 that is a neat thing to see. Many years ago my wife and I was visiting NASA in FL. We were able to see one of the space station modules beginning prepared to be sent up to the station at a time they was still building it. Back in 2011 one of the last shuttles had to change it's landing paths due to weather. Living only less than 100 miles from the landing runway the shuttle flew directly over our house. First there was the double Sonic boom then it flew over our house about I say anywhere from 500 ft. to 1000 ft. above us. You could make out the individual tiles under the ship It was still moving very fast at this time so all of this took place in a few seconds. It was one of those great experiences of a life time.

  It must be summer where you live it's winter here. About 2 1/2 ft. of snow on the ground with a expected high temperature of 0 degree F. Enjoy the warmth and thank you for a great memory. Still Totally ADD

  Do you have JW-related dreams (nightmares)?

  greetings, dreamers:.

  i guess it's never going away: daytime carryovers of jw-related stuff seeping into my dreams.. the majority of these dreams take place at conventions but with really weird trappings.

  last night i dreamed i arrived at the site with no books, no lunch, nothing but my car keys.

  I been having recurring dreams about being at the KH or assembly and walking by my parents and I would say hi to them and all they would do is stare at me saying nothing. My father has been dead for almost 9 years and my mother is going on 95 and does not know who anyone is. I can't say these are nightmares but they do make me feel uncomfortable in my dream and after I wakeup. I also realize in my dream I am questioning myself on why I am even at the KH or assembly. I haven't thought to much about it until you brought up this subject. Now I have something else to worry about. Lol Still Totally ADD

  E cart witnessing on our way to see Shen Yun in San Francisco

  today, i took the day off to go with my husband to san francisco on bart to see shen yun.

  coming out of the station, were two elders at a watchtower cart!

  my husband loves to witness to them.. started off with a smile and they smiled back and he told them he had been associated with jehovah's witnesses and now he is not but he wishes to tell them that even though they are going to hear things that are upsetting in the news, there is life after jehovah's witnesses.. they smiled and asked him if they could ask what religion he has gone to, or what he is doing now.

  C.C. good job by both of you. In our little neck of the woods I have only seen one E cart. It was downtown on a very busy street. The only time we have seen any witnesses around here is at grocery stores and restaurants. They are very easy to spot. Everyone including the kids are all dressed up. They look so out of place around here. Right now it is 0 degrees with a wind chill of -26 with snow and blowing snow. So I don't think I will be seeing any E carts on street corners today. Lol.   Why do ex-JW's talk so much about being ex-JW's?

  is it because we were in the cult watchtower compound that we talk about being ex-jw's when we stop being active?

  i have never heard anyone say that i was an ex-catholic or an ex-lutheran or an ex-baptist.

  they just stop going to their church and don't talk about it.. years after not stepping inside a kingdom hell, many of us still have to talk about being ex-jw's.

  I feel being in the cult is like being in a coma for a long time. You are unable to do anything outside your bed. The doctor and nurses have total control over you. You can't talk to anyone even though you may be able to hear and understand what is being said. You are totally cut off from all society. All you know is what goes on in the 4 walls around you.

  Then after a long time in that coma you wakeup. You are able to think and speak for yourself. No one is controlling every aspect of your life anymore. But you find out how many years of life was wasted. How being on your own is difficult dealing with normal living. Then depression, anger and frustration sets in. All you can talk about is the unique events you went through. This web site is like a life preserver for all of us. Helping us get over the coma we were all in.   Born-in. My wife and I totally escape April of 2011. Went to a small community Church my wife gone to as a little girl. She came with me because unlike her I never was ever in a church before. I was searching to see if the Wt. was telling the truth about other religions. It was nothing like they said. After six months we left because the pastor was ragging on atheist and my wife was at that point already. I soon came to that same conclusion.

  I have many reasons on why I am a atheist now but I feel those who do believe in a god is great but religious institution are the corrupting factors that cause most of the problems in this world. And cause their followers to do and say crazy things. This is my belief in a nutshell. Still Totally ADD
